10 Good Ways to Improve at Work
6. Friendliness helps
It’s really wonderful to have a helpful peer system, but you have to contribute to this. Smiling at your colleagues, wishing them, inquiring about their welfare and stopping by once in a while for a chat or a joke are not just great stress-busters, but also can win some friends for you.
7. Rectify mistakes
Easier said than done, but we all make mistakes. The first and foremost thing is to admit where you’ve gone wrong; if/whenever you have, correct it at the earliest.
8. Organize your emails
Make separate folders for your emails, the important ones, ones you can delay replying to, and have others in folders with specific labels, which will help you to quickly track what you’re searching for.
9. Avoid games and the iPod
It’s a great temptation to play games when working on a computer. Similarly, immersing yourself in the iPod may mean a few minutes of sublime pleasure, but can put you at peril if your supervisor or peers are trying, unsuccessfully, to get through to you. The lunch-break’s a great time for such activities!
10. Take a break, reward yourself
Trainers recommend a mid-morning break to either send-off messages on Facebook or Twitter, or go for a short walk to stretch your legs, or reward yourself with a hot beverage and cookies in your office cafeteria.
