In order to teach your children discipline, you must necessarily show how much you love them by being affectionate. This is crucial because when you restrain them from doing anything wrong or punish them for their mistakes, they (especially younger children) misinterpret it as you not caring about them. But if you show them your affection, they know you love them and will begin to understand that anything you do is for their well-being and that you always have their best interest in mind.
