5 Ways to Inculcate the Habit of Reading in Your Child
4. Reward them
Books are a fun way to inculcate knowledge and good habits. However, they look dastardly boring to a small child who only wants to mess around the house. To have him willfully choose reading over playing, you really have to give him an incentive for that. Make a deal with your child that if he completes reading a book, he will be rewarded with a treat.
5. Take interests in their interests
Don’t just force general knowledge books on your kids. If they enjoy reading stories, let them read it. If your kid is interested in the fairy world, or car racing space, gift them books related to their choice of interest. This way, they will develop the habit of reading gradually and accept books as a natural part of their lives.
As parents, you need to be careful as to not force books on your children. Books should be their best companion, so know your kids’ interest levels and slowly make them read books.
