5 Ways to Help Your Child to Handle Bullies in School

4. Get your child to gang up with friends

Bullies are likely to target not just one but many other weak kids in class. Your kid may not be the only one in class who is being harassed and bullied. Talk to your child to find out how many other kids are being bullied. Establish contact with them and their parents. Brainstorm about how they can make a team to cope with the class bully.

5. Fill your child with confidence at home

A fearless attitude of confidence is a must-have for your child to cope with bullying at school. Use positive re-affirmations when your child is at home. Give compliments, verbalize your appreciation and most importantly give your child lots of love and affection. When your child finds plenty of support and backing at home, he will become much more confident to deal with bullies at school.

6. Help your child make more friends

Many researches have found that most kids who get bullied generally don’t have groups of friends and stay isolated from social and academic activities of the class. If your child is a loner at school, it will make him or her more susceptible to bullying. Invite your child’s classmates to your house for a party, enrol your kid in activities which allows him or her to make friends or speak to your child’s teacher to ensure that he or she is not being isolated from the rest of the class.
