6 Ways Loneliness can be Deadly Says a New Study
4. Loneliness can also disrupt your sleep patterns
As much as we lead busy lives and tend to deny the need for a warm body next to us when we sleep, the truth remains that you sleep well when you have someone else around. Lack of sleep can cause a lot of complications for your mental as well as physical health.
5. It can cause you to overeat
It may sound a cliché to say that lonely people are generally heavier, but sometimes you tend to compensate for the lack of companionship by finding comfort with food. You develop a relationship with food that can only lead to weight gain and probably obesity. You also eat what you want whenever you want it.
6. It causes depression
Depression is another concern you will have to take seriously. Loneliness can push you into a depressive state and it can be very difficult to get out of it.
No matter how old you are, try to make new friends or at least make an effort to stay in touch with your family or old colleagues and friends. Even if you hate being around people, sometimes they become a necessary evil for your overall health.
