Top 5 Running Myths You Must Know
4. Runners don’t need weight training
Running definitely keeps you healthy and fit, but that doesn’t mean that it is a substitute for weight training. The goals and results of weight training are very different from that of running. In fact, the purpose of weight training and strength training is also different from that of running. So while you do your usual running quite religiously, it is important to combine it with weight training if you are looking for specific fitness goals.
5. Barefoot running is better
It’s not the case entirely. Sometimes, barefoot running causes more injuries than you thought and leads to more harm than good. Not only does this decision of wearing or avoiding shoes depend on where you are running and what kind of terrain or slope it is, but also on the kind of foot cushion you have naturally and whether or not you are used to running without shoes.
Now that you are aware of these myths and identify with some of them, you can correct the mistakes that you have been making and make the most of your run. Again, there is a myth that you need to run everyday to improve your performance. That’s not necessarily the case. You can run twice or thrice a week too, as long as you are dedicatedly setting goals higher than your previous run and are working committedly towards achieving them.
