1. Poker Face (Lady Gaga)
Revolving around the theme of sex and gambling, Poker Face has been a massive hit. I still remember the very first time I heard the song – my feet started moving and an extremely energetic feeling was infused within me. As I searched for it on YouTube upon my return, the video was like the icing on the cake. Lady Gaga – love her or hate her, Poker Face is here to stay.
2. Umbrella (Rihanna)
I first heard this song when I was traveling in Australia in 2007. In a local R&B club in Melbourne, Umbrella was extremely well received. The wasted crowd was still singing “Umbrella ella ella ella” UK was experiencing extreme rainfall and flooding in various parts of the country when this song was released. Did you know that the media referred to it as the ‘Rihanna Curse?’ They thought that the song ‘Umbrella’ brought bad luck. Coincidence with bad weather, record-breaking sales, topping charts across the globe and a very, very catchy tune – there are many reasons for you to listen to this track!
3. I Gotta Feeling (Black Eyed Peas)
‘I Gotta Feeling, Tonight’s gonna be a good night’ – It is the anthem of many clubs around the world and a massive number by the Black Eyed Peas. Winning a Grammy at the 52nd Grammy Awards, I Gotta Feeling is the most downloaded song on iTunes. This song is very euphoric and always peps me up when I’m down. Funnily, my girlfriends and I always listen to this song before hoping out of the car before a big night out. Definitely a top number on my list!
4. Telephone (Lady Gaga)
Another number by Lady Gaga in my top 7. Is it just me? Looking at the sales, with 7.4 million copies sold worldwide in 2010, I don’t think so! At some points in the song, it sounds as if it’s been sung in a rapid-fire mode which makes it a very exciting number. Did you know that the theme of the song revolves around how Lady Gaga refers to the ‘dance floor’ as a person, who she prefers over her lover? I can’t seem to disagree because this number definitely keeps me glued to the dance floor.
