Top 5 Celebrity Wedding Destinations
Celebrity weddings are always the talk of the town. How exotic was the location? How exquisite were the custom made gifts? How many guests were flown in? These are the common yardsticks used to judge the grandeur and the royal quotient of a celebrity wedding. Enlisted below are top 5 celebrity wedding destinations.
1. Skibo Castle, Scotland – Madonna and Guy Ritchie
Imagine standing on a 7000-acre Viking settlement and saying ‘I do’ to your loved one. Wow! What an exhilarating moment that would be! Madonna and Guy did just that in the beautiful Skibo Castle in Scotland. What adds to the charm is that only members of the highly exclusive ‘The Carnegie Club’ were allowed to visit. Now that’s one really private celebrity wedding destination.
2. Wakaya Club, Fiji – Tori Spelling & Dean McDermott
Did you know, this ‘Beverly Hills’ actress and TV actor held a private ceremony in Fiji after they separated from their earlier partners and eloped? Wow, that’s quite a bit of drama, we think. The point to note is that they kept it secluded and private by picking Wakaya Club to take the vows. What could be better than an exclusive hideaway, all to yourself, to take the most important decision of your life?
3. Odescalchi Castle, Italy – Katie Holmes & Tom Cruise
Did you know that Katie and Tom always had the hots for Rome? In 2006, they picked the Odescalchi Castle on Lake Bracciano in Italy for their nuptials. With a castle straight out of the 15th century for a backdrop, who wouldn’t call it a fairy tale wedding? What we loved about this wedding was that it was telecasted, unlike other paparazzi-shy celebrity destination weddings that are shrouded in secrecy. Are you thinking about where they would have honeymooned dearies? Nothing less than the private islands of Maldives.
4. Aman-e-Khas Sanctuary, India – Katy Perry & Russell Brand
You heard about this celebrity destination recently, haven’t you? The state of Rajasthan in India has become a hot destination for Hollywood celebrities. Jumping on this bandwagon, Russell Brand and Katy Perry had an exotic wedding there. Theirs was a themed ‘destination jungle’ wedding. How romantic would it would be to exchange vows amongst wilderness, luxury tents, exotic spas and safari trips?
5. Church of Saint-Germain l’Auxerrois, France – Eva Longoria & Tony Parker
There isn’t a spark of doubt inside our mind that a French wedding can ever go wrong. Eva and Tony picked various destinations within France for their wedding, reception and after-parties. They kicked off their civil ceremony at the City Hall in Paris, followed it up with the wedding at the Church of Saint-Germain l’Auxerrois, which, by the way, is opposite the Louvre. After this was a gala reception at the luxurious château Vaux-le-Vicomte built by King Louis XIV. Wow, that’s an exhaustive selection of destinations for a wedding, isn’t it?
We wish we had the kind of monies to pick such awesome destinations for our own weddings. Until we get to that, we’re soaking our eyes in the beauty of these places and keeping tab of new destinations that our favorite celebrities will pick this year.
