9 Tips to Stop Self-Sabotage
6. Say no to victimization
Most often, you are not going to be victimized by others for something you fear may go wrong. People who indulge in self-sabotage usually victimize themselves. Even if there is victimization from others, learn to stand up for it. Do no demonstrate weakness.
7. Break down your list
A big and long list is often considered tough to handle. Therefore, you can begin by breaking down a task into numerous sub-tasks so they become easier to manage and the fear of committing mistakes or failure is avoided.
8. Identify alternate behavior
Try to find out an alternate behavior when you observe the need to self-sabotage. For example, if fear of communication stops you from the golden opportunity of addressing the board to make an impression, try to identify ways in which you can sharpen your communication instead of explicitly denying to talk.
9. Don’t wait for the last second
Everyone gets the urge to do or say something. Unleash it at that moment rather than waiting for your heart or mind to confirm it. The more you delay or postpone, the more you are likely to step away from it.
