6 Tips to Make a Newborn Sleep at Night
As much as magical it is to have a kid, it can be a nightmare to adjust yourself to your babies needs and schedule your time accordingly. If you thought feeding would prove to be a problem, wait till you try to make your baby go to sleep so you can get some well-deserved shut eye at night. Some babies sleep through the night and some babies do not sleep too well. It could be their nature or could be something that is bothering them. It could also be the routine that you are following. The most important thing you need to do to make your baby sleep at night is to establish and follow a routine. Other than that there are many things you can do to get your baby settled at night and here are some tips on how to do it.
1. Time the feeding and establish a routine
Make daytime feeds interesting and long drawn, and night-time feeds quiet and calm. When you do this every day, your baby will understand the difference between day and night and will settle into sleep more comfortably and quickly.
2. Let your baby go to sleep on his/her own
You may want to go and try to help your baby sleep or hold your baby in the night. But remember you cannot do this every time and you should let the baby sleep on his or her own. Do not get him or her into a habit of being rocked to sleep.
3. Give your baby a warm bath
A warm bath before bed time can also make your baby sleep well. Just make you’re your dry your baby well before putting them to bed. They may fall sick if there is moisture on their hair or body. Massage your baby a little bit as you give him or her a bath so as to relax their little bodies.
