Love is mostly about spontaneity and impulsive behavior, but when it comes to office romances, you need to be a little boring and be really careful as to who you choose to romance. Although it is true you can’t really help who you fall in love with, it does matter when you are in an office space. Here are some reasons as to why you should not fall in love with a co-worker and certain things you should know before you fall in love with a co-worker.
1. It may be against company policy
There are a lot of companies that still frown on office romance. While some companies have it as a policy, others may not be completely outright about it but still have a problem with office romance. In some places you might even be warned off if the management comes to know about your budding romance.
2. Be careful you are not falling for someone too high or someone too low.
Falling for your boss and falling for an intern are equally bad though the repercussions may be different. Falling for your boss may undermine your work as whatever progress you make will be just seen as a favor from your boss, while falling for an intern may leave the space open and make you vulnerable to future harassment charges.
3. Remember that breakups can be painful and when it is with a co-worker, you do not have the option of shunning them off your life completely.
When you breakup with your co-worker/lover, you cannot completely shun them off your life as you have to get back to work the next day. Personal relations can also disturb the professional environment needed in an office.
