6 Things to Know About the Let’s Move Initiative
Obesity is becoming a serious issue in the country and a recent study has come out with alarming statistics about how young children are increasingly becoming obese due to less exercise and unhealthy eating habits. It was in this scenario that the first lady Michele Obama started the Let’s Move campaign. Here are a few things you should know about the Let’s Move campaign.
1. It is a campaign to end childhood obesity in the country.
This campaign was started by first lady Michele Obama and the initially stated goal is solving the challenge of childhood obesity within a generation so that children born today will reach adulthood at a healthy weight.

2. It was announced on the 9th of February 2010.
On announcement, the first lady indicated that the campaign would encourage healthier food served in schools, better labeling of foods and more increased physical activity for kids. It was also on the same date that President Obama signed a presidential memorandum creating the task force on childhood obesity. This was created to review current government programs on obesity and also to develop a national action plan.
3. To add to the allure, a song “Move your Body” was made especially for the campaign by Beyonce and Swiz Beatz
The video for this song was shot in a school cafeteria where Beyonce can be seen dancing with a lot of school kids. If nothing else, this definitely did serve as encouragement for the kids to lose some weight.
