What you eat before you go for blood donation plays an important role. If you take the right foods and drinks, you will be more likely to be able to donate, get it done quickly and feel better after the process. It is advised that you eat an iron-rich, low fat diet the day before you go for donation. Also, keep your body hydrated with lots of water. Most importantly, do not skip meals on the day that you are planning to donate blood.

We all have a different threshold for pain, and so your experience may vary from someone else’s. In most cases, you are likely to feel a slight sting in the beginning which might last a few seconds. You are not likely to feel any pain during the remaining donation process.
