Things a Boss Should Never Say to an Employee
5. “You are not qualified for this job”
Don’t shatter your employees’ confidence by telling anyone that they are not qualified for the job. Such a statement will make them feel inferior and they may no longer have the confidence to make good decisions. If you really think that an employee is not qualified for the job, suggest to him or her to take up a course that can be pursued while working. Say it in a way that it seems that you are trying to help their career prospects.
6. “Don’t ever complain to me about anything”
Employees have the right to complain to you if they think that they are being treated unfairly. As boss, don’t shield yourself from their complaints because your employees see you as their problem solver. If you don’t fulfill your responsibility as their boss, they will stop respecting you.
7. “My importance in this office is much more than yours”
Never tell an employee that you are more important than him or her. Employees like to know that they are a crucial part of the team and that their hard work contributes to the company’s success. Don’t demean an employee’s efforts by saying that their presence in the office is not as importance as yours. Treat them as equals.
