9 Signs You are Verbally Abused
6. Dismissing your feelings
Your partner is not bothered about your feelings and uses language that hurts you all the more. If he is only concerned about himself and does not think twice in avoiding or stopping you from saying what you have on your mind, then it is a sign of verbal abuse.
7. Making verbal threats to you
Do you often find your partner using phrases like “You dare not do this or else…..?” These words could be a very extreme form of verbal abuse. He is threatening your well-being. In relationships like marriage, this can easily lead to a divorce.
8. Being commanding
It is a sign of verbal abuse if your partner starts ordering you to do things around the house as if you are a slave. You are not allowed to do things on your own and are at the command of your partner. This could leave you shattered and can prove detrimental to your self-confidence.
9. Using discouraging words
Even if your partner does not raise his voice or does not use offensive words, he could still be abusing you verbally. You may find your partner constantly discouraging every time you get into a new venture. You would often find him making statements like, “you are good for nothing”, “You can’t do this,” “ This is not your cup of tea”, etc. All this could be a sign of verbal abuse.
