5. He tells you what you have to wear
And it may not just stop with clothes. If your boyfriend wants to have a say in anything and everything you do or wear, it is a red flag. Having an opinion is not a problem but he shouldn’t become insistent on what you must do and not deprive you your liberty of making your own choices.
6. He demands to know all that you do
It is quite likely that you have male and female friends and you talk or go out with them on a periodic basis. If he stops you from doing so or wants to know about your relationship with each or any of them and is being unwontedly or unreasonably suspicious, then he may be trying to exercise his control and possessiveness on you.
7. He doesn’t let you get comfortable even with your family
A suspicious and controlling boyfriend may not even let you closer to your own family for fear that you may leave him or let them know you are in the midst of an abusive relationship. He will try to curb every visit or talk you have with them or even stop them from coming to see you in his own ways.
8. He punishes you
He may be a person who thinks that it is right to punish you for your acts he assumes are wrong. A possessive man can be vindictive. He may turn violent, even hit or abuse you in front of others.
The early days of a relationship can be charming and you may show off your new found boyfriend and describe how terrific he is to your family and friends. But, when the relationship begins to turn sour, you may find it unsure and embarrassing to let your dear ones know about it. This is a very dangerous act and the earlier you escape from the realms of such a relationship, the lesser the damage will get to be.
