4 Reasons Why the Myth of Santa Claus has Continued Over the Years
3. He is just happy to look at
The creator of the jolly good old man with a big body, beard and an outrageous laugh sure did know what he was doing as just looking at him brings joy and happiness not only to the kids but the older people as well. The way Santa Claus has been designed also plays a big role in perpetuating the myth and can explain why people would still like to believe in Santa or talk to their kids about him.
4. He is a good marketing tool
The companies, right from the greeting card companies, to the decoration companies, to the clothes manufactures and all the toy makers have found Santa to be a good marketing tool. Sales are always ensured when there is a representation of Santa on the Christmas items and this is another reason why the myth of Santa is very alive. They have more at stake in keeping Santa alive than anyone else.
Even when we grow older and know Santa does not exist, we still believe in the act of giving and do not frown on Santa. We even go to the extent of letting our kids believe in him for as long as they want to. Maybe it is why Santa still plays a central role in the commercialized Christmas that we have now.
