5. Society is not yet open to it
People who indulge in an open marriage often do not talk about it in the open. They fear being alienated because despite the age of technology; society is still not broadminded about this subject. Therefore, an extra-marital relationship is still clandestine and hence fear of disclosure is always imminent.
6. Setting expectations
A partner or more you are happy with may get paranoid after some time about your association with others. You may have to get into the constant exercise of expectation setting stating that your interest in them is not influenced and would not deteriorate because of association with any other man.
7. Chances of STDs
Multiple sexual partners multiply the chances of deriving sexually transmitted diseases. This may even make an individual paranoid to indulge in physical contact with anyone.
With all these drawbacks of an open marriage, practicing the concept is most certainly risky physically and more importantly psychologically.
