How to Start a Presentation? 6 Tips to Help You
4. Dramatize
Start with a video clip, or better, a short live skit, if possible. Make it extremely funny, or extremely serious. If done perfectly, this way is feasible even in a formal setting. If you involve people in the beginning, they will be keenly waiting for the rest of it.
5. Demonstrate
If it’s a product you are presenting, why not start with a demo? It adds a visual to your presentation, and such interaction would make people understand and appreciate your presentation better.
6. Crack a joke
Crack a joke on the management (a harmless one), or on yourself. Something like, “Boy! I was wrong when I thought that this project would be a piece of cake. It was not”. Lighten the room, and just carry on with your presentation. Be smart about the joke to pick.
Choose the way that suits your purpose the best. A presentation is just like a magic show, where you are the magician who’s there to make people see things the way you want them to.
