How to Resist Impulsive Shopping?
Are you tired of watching yourself spend your hard earned money on nothing? Impulsive shopping is a problem that most women face. And if not controlled, it could turn into an addiction. Learn how to resist impulsive shopping with these tips.
1. Make a list
By this, we don’t mean just for groceries. Right from sandals to cosmetics, no matter what you need, make a list. And the most important part is that you must stick to the list. Don’t buy anything that is not on the list.
2. Account for every penny
Every time you return from shopping, write down the details of how much you have spent and for what. Leave the general grocery/household items out; just note the ones that you know you could have done without.
You could do this on a sheet of paper or on your laptop. Add a column “Usefulness” and write down the purpose you bought this item for. Knowing how much you spend on unnecessary items can be a real eye-opener for some of you and make you resist impulsive shopping.
3. Distract yourself
So you are outside in a shopping mall, going through your list and an attractive scarf catches your eye. You don’t need a scarf, and you certainly haven’t included a scarf in your list. But you so want to buy it. Don’t give in to the temptation. Instead distract yourself by going in the other direction and get yourself some ice-cream or a diet coke. Call up a good friend and talk to her about today’s weather. Do things that will take your mind off the scarf!
