How to Prepare a Travel Checklist?
3. Travel checklist when traveling with kids and elders
This could be a tough task, as kids and elderly both have specific care demands which need to be taken care of. This checklist may run into multiple pages and could drive one crazy. So the best way is to deal with it patiently, and pack one thing at a time. The ardent task of preparing a checklist when traveling with kids and elderly, ranges from essential paper work to necessities like baby food and adult diapers. Basically, it could be anything under the sun!
Travel checklist for kids would include things like diapers, medicines, toys, vaccination certificates, pre-checking into flight with aisle seats, extra warm clothing, ear muffs (as the pressure reduction in flights makes babies cranky, and at most times they start crying), extra plastic bags, any specific brands of baby food that you use and may not find easily at your travel location, baby toiletries and books for toddlers and slightly elder kids etc.
When creating a checklist for elderly people, essential things include medication, warm clothing, pre-checking into flights with wheel chair facilities for them, etc. It’s essential to not miss out on any of the important elements, so that they remain fit and happy during the trip. Hence, go through the list multiple times to ensure everything is perfect.
4. The household checklist
This form of checklist is created to ensure that you don’t leave anything out of place or susceptible to a robbery in your house, in your absence. It is extremely essential to do this, especially when there will be no one to take care of the house and your belongings back home when the entire family is traveling. This checklist consists of things such as locking all cupboards and cabinets properly, especially those consisting of a locker or a safe, shutting all windows and doors to every room, switching off all electricity mains and appliances, etc. If your house has an alarm system, switch it on and check well in advance before leaving that it is properly functional. Give your contact details to your relatives and neighbors in case of emergencies, and let your relatives know of the location you are headed to. Share your itinerary and hotel phone numbers with friends and close relatives, so that they can contact you if something goes wrong. Most importantly, remove all household keys from all possible hideout places which exist outside of your house. Also, don’t spread your travel news to anyone else except trusted sources.
