How To Deal With Pet Loss?
“The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself, too.” ~ Samuel Butler
Today, in a world where man is man’s enemy, we human beings are getting closer to animals in search of loyalty, love, and a silent support that we lack from fellow human beings. The best trait of your pet is loyalty. A pet never betrays us. The situation is such that you might be closer to your pet than your next door neighbor or even a member of your own family. This closeness is sweet but it pains a lot when you face the loss of your pet.
Animals have a shorter life span as compared to human beings and hence if you have a pet, there is a high probability that you might have to face this sooner or later. It becomes very difficult for people to cope with such stress. Here we show you different ways to deal with such a situation.
1. Do not sit idle at home
Idle time and empty space can be really painful in such a situation. Go shopping or hang out with your friends.
2. Talk about it
Talk to your close friends or a close family member whom you expect to understand you. Letting out what you feel is the best reliever. Avoid talking about your feelings in front of ‘trouble amplifiers’, those who, instead of helping you heal, will make fun of your feelings.
3. Take your time
Do not expect a very quick healing process, neither push or force yourself towards it. Grief of loss takes time to heal and you can not force yourself towards it, neither can you mourn for long because nothing stops life from moving on. All you can do is help yourself in staying cheerful and normal.
