How to Be a Good Host?
5. Greet them
Always greet all your guests at the door. Smiling is the best weapon for ensuring that guests feel welcome. A broad smile will comfort guests, irrespective of their age. Be it kids or adults, a smile will warm any heart. So wear your warmest and broadest smile when you welcome your guests.
6. Accept gifts
Guests might feel obliged to give you a gift so it might embarrass them if you decline it or don’t like it. Therefore accept whatever gift they bring graciously. Your guests might not be in the best of mood or they might be tired so don’t be hard on them, if they don’t respond to your pleasantries in the manner you expect. Give them some time and space and let them warm up.
7. Feed them well
After the initial pleasantries are over, you need to make sure that guests are offered something to eat. If guests have traveled a long way to reach your place, ask them if they would like to eat something substantial or offer them some snacks or a refreshment if they are not in the mood to eat the main course just yet. Make sure guests don’t leave your house hungry.
8. Accept your guests
Your guests might have some habit which you might find annoying but you should refrain from criticizing them.
9. Go sightseeing
Your guest might be new to the place, so take them to some place nearby if the feel like it or tell them about good shopping spots in the locality.
Make sure your guests feel like coming back to your place the next time. Genuinely ask them to visit your place when they are back the next time.
