8 Great Ways to Persuade People With Your Speech
5. Connect with the listener
Your listener may be one guy, a homogenous group or even a group with varying interests. However, connecting with your listener(s) is extremely important if you want to persuade them with what you have or need. Asking for a day’s leave from your manager also qualifies for a bond with him or her. Find that before you open your mouth.
6. Hone your listening skills
A speaker is not just about great speech. He or she should also learn to actively listen and only when you listen intently to the ones you have to talk to will you gain their respect, trust, interest and willingness.
7. Use evidence
Evidence strengthens an argument. Established facts are often used by great speakers, the world has ever seen, to complement what they have to say and impress audiences to move to a specific line of action. Adding a concrete component to a vague or abstract subject can help people understand the magnitude better.
8. Work on a strong voice
You may or may not have a loud booming voice but that is immaterial to a great speaker. What is necessary is passion, strength and conviction in your voice. Then, your voice will have the ability to resonate through even the toughest of chambers and persuade hundreds.
You may have 60 seconds, 60 minutes or 60 hours to capture attention of your audience. What you do in this time frame is what determines your ability to persuade people. Use the above mentioned tips to help you drive a message home and persuade your audience to follow them.
