A woman can also find it extremely difficult to conceive when her fallopian tubes are infected or scarred. Infections, endometriosis and surgeries can cause scarring of the tubes.

If there had been a previous surgery or excess mucous in the cervix, the sperm cannot pass through the cervical canal making it difficult for the woman to conceive. This also can be rectified by a procedure called as the intrauterine insemination.
