Easy To Follow Hair Care Tips
Don’ts
1. Don’t be a blind copycat
You may be a great fan of Lady Gaga or Megan Fox, and aspire to look like them, but before blindly copying their hairdo take a good look at your face structure in the mirror. Celebrities usually don wigs to change their look from time to time and have a barrage of hairstylists at their beck and call. Are you going to be able to spend chunks of monies to maintain such hairdos? Also, think of this, will such hairdos look appropriate at school or at your workplace?
2. Don’t blow dry too often
Because of fast lifestyle these days, none of us has the time to go out in our backyards and dry hair under the sun’s rays. I never seem to have the time and I simply reach for the blow dry straight out. Blow drying in cases of emergencies (when you’re really running late or have a special event to attend) is acceptable, but if you do it on a daily basis, then your hair will become brittle and will lose their shine and shimmer. The same applies to the usage of hair straightness and curlers. I learnt this lesson because daily blow drying really messed up my hair. Don’t let it happen to you.
3. Don’t flip hair colors
Have you been taking a fancy to the reds, striking greens, jazzy oranges and burgundy hair colors that are doing the rounds of fashion weeks these days? Trust me, they all look good, but only on a wig. If you really keep treating your hair with color chemicals too frequently, not only will you completely lose the natural luster of your hair but also be unable to get your original hair color back even if you want to.
4. Don’t borrow hair brushes
How many times has it happened that you have picked up a friend’s hair brush from her table whilst you are in a hurry to go to the pub? Don’t do this! This may seem harmless from the outside, but it could lead to the transfer of dandruff, lice and other bacteria that your friend may have housed. In fact, try to also avoid using your partner’s brush or comb – just to maintain basic hygiene.
5. Don’t overexpose your hair to the sun
In the sixties and seventies, there was a very fashionable trend of ladies wearing scarves and fancy head gear. This trend has come back in a big way. Once I started wearing head gear, I figured that my hair was less exposed to direct sunlight. This trapped all the moisture and it kept my hair bouncy. If you don’t start getting into this habit, your hair will become vulnerable to breakage and your PH balance will also be ruined. If you must go out directly in the sun, make sure you put on some stylish head gear.
To keep your hair shining, smooth, silky and luscious, just like they show in advertisements, make sure you take care of your hair on a daily basis – one monthly trip to the beauty salon won’t be enough.
