Easy Tips To Take Care Of Oily Skin
Use Toners
I know many friends who swear by using toners. This is backed by experts who say that sometimes a cleansing routine may not remove all the dirt and sebum from the pores of your skin. Using a toner or tonic lotion as they say, will remove any remaining traces of dirt particles and excess oils from the pores. I have noticed that tonic lotion may leave the skin feeling ‘tight’. There is a simple solution – lightly, and note the word lightly, apply a moisturizer. Then dab it off. This will leave the skin feeling soft again.
Exfoliate regularly and carefully
Dirt, residue and dead skin are a dangerous mix, especially for women who have oily skin. I suggest that you make exfoliating a habit and do it at least once a week. It will bring healthy skin to the surface faster. Do you have severe acne? Yes? Be very careful while exfoliating. The last thing you want is more breakouts. Be gentle, especially over the hot spots.
Lemon Juice is best for oily skin
I reckon this is subject to skin types. It does magic to some skin types and has no effect on others. But I’ve seen miracles on the skin types that it works on. For blackheads, many beauticians recommend mixing some lemon juice and oatmeal paste with a few drops of olive oil. Apply this mixture to the face. And wash it away only with warm water. Not too hot, not too cold. If you can’t be fussed using oatmeal paste, simply mix some lemon juice in lukewarm water. Use cotton balls to dab this over the shiny spots first, and work your way towards the outer regions of the face.
Know what to avoid
Knowing what to avoid on your oily skin is as important as knowing what to use. Experts suggest that you should avoid using products that contain petroleum by-products like paraffin wax, liquid paraffin, and other petroleum based gels. You’d better take note of this because many regular makeup kits contain these ingredients. I also suggest that you stay away from heavy alcohol based products. Yeah you can argue that alcohol removes oil from the skin. But I’ll warn you that excess use may force your skin to produce more oil.
Besides these specific remedies, I suggest that you also catch up on a few basic things – eat your veggies, increase intake of foods that give you the essential vitamins, drink lots of water and sleep well. Get the basics right, and follow the tried and tested remedies we just talked about to get glowing, healthy skin!
