7 Causes of Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is a fast growing disease all over the world and that is why it is important to have knowledge about its causes. Diabetes is caused owing to pancreatic malfunction which hampers the production of insulin. When the amount of insulin gets low, it hinders the conversion of glucose into energy, thereby resulting in diabetes. Here are some of the causes of type 2 diabetes.
1. Obesity
It is one of the most common causes of this kind of diabetes. Owing to the increase in intake of junk food and excess use of unhealthy beverages, alcohol, and untimely food intake; obesity has become a very common problem. Excess intake of food results into formation of fat in your body. Your pancreas has to work more which eventually results in its malfunction. When the time gap between two meals is not proper, your digestive system gets upset and this also affects the conversion of glucose into energy.
2. Family history
If type 2 diabetes is a part of your family’s genetic history, then there are chances of you acquiring it. It may also happen that you could suffer from this type of diabetes even if some close relative of yours has it. There is no solution to this problem. If it is in your genes, you are likely to get it sooner or later.
3. Stress
Stress is yet another major cause of type 2 diabetes. Stress causes you to have a disturbed life style. It can cause a lot of anxiety and high blood pressure. If you do not make time for your body to rest, then you will not be able to eliminate stress from your life. All this can take a toll on your body and eventually lead to type 2 diabetes.
4. Your age
Type 2 diabetes is mostly seen in people above the age of 40, especially women. Many women gain weight during the menopause period. Not only that, the hormonal changes are challenging and can cause stress and anxiety. Men over the age of 40 also acquire it but women are known to be more prone towards this disease.
