5. Taste the dish frequently

While you are making the dish, no matter how confident you feel about yourself, make sure that you keep tasting the dish to see if it is developing fine. That way, you can rectify a mistake before it is too late.

6. Avoid experimentation

As a first-timer you may feel very tempted to do some experiments with the dish like adding a “secret” ingredient or messing with the temperature settings, etc. However, it is better if you simply stick to the recipe for the first time. Later once you have mastered the dish, then you can try and experiment with flavors.

7. Be prepared for minor hiccups

Irrespective of how perfect the recipe is or how easy the dish is, you may end up having a few problems while cooking for the first time. You may end up getting a very minor burn or you may even end up burning the dish. Do not get de-motivated by all these things. They too are a part of the learning process. Just try not to repeat the same mistakes when you attempt the dish for the second time.
