All You Wanted To Know About Chemical Peeling
3. Deep peeling
Deep peeling is the most intensive of all three types of peeling. You must consult your doctor if you have a heart problem or any other health issue. For deep peeling, a strong chemical called phenol is used.
An ideal setting for deep peeling is in a hospital, as it requires you to be under full anesthesia. The time required for full face phenol peeling is about 2 hours. After applying the phenol solution, your doctor will apply tape or petroleum jelly over the treated skin. Full peeling of your skin takes 2 to 3 weeks. However, after the application your face may swell and you may need to be on a liquid diet for a few days. Deep peeling will lighten your skin and may leave a line of demarcation. Hence, it is not advised for dark skinned people.
Deep peeling will remove pre-cancerous lesions, large skin blots or blotches, and deeper wrinkles. But the most far reaching impact of deep peeling is that the skin loses its ability to tan. So you have to take utmost care of your skin for life and protect it from the sun as it no more makes the pigment to protect itself from sun rays.
