All You Wanted To Know About Chemical Peeling
2. Medium depth peeling
Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is the chemical that is used for medium depth peels. Medium depth peels are generally stronger than superficial peels but mild in comparison to deep peeling. This type may have to be performed repeatedly after some months. Different concentrations of TCA are used to perform medium depth peeling.
Like superficial peeling, this procedure also takes about 15 minutes. Generally, you don’t require anesthesia as the chemical itself anesthetizes the skin. But the doctor may sedate you to make you feel comfortable. To prepare the skin for TCA peels, doctors may treat the skin with AHA or retinoid treatment for few days. After washing and drying the face, TCA is applied over the required area. While applying this peel, you will feel a stinging sensation. But that will go away after a week or more. You need to ask your doctor every detail about the procedure and effects of medium depth peel. You also need to protect your skin from the sun after this procedure.
If you have superficial skin spots, fine wrinkles, skin blemishes, uneven pigmentation, and other superficial skin problems, then you should go for medium depth peeling.
