4. The scientists say that first borns are 16% more likely to excel academically than their younger siblings
The scientists have lined up a slew of female celebrities who were first born and who have made their lives a huge success such as Beyonce, Angela Merkel, Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey and Sheryl Sandberg.
5. The scientists also point out that it could very well be put down to nurture than nature
First born kids get all the attention and the resources of their parents for quite some time or at least the time till the other kids arrive. They soak up all the energy and this continues even after the siblings arrive as the parents do not want them to be upstaged. This attention is another reason they seem to thrive more. The scientists also say that the whole miracle aspect of having a baby kind of diminishes as other kids start arriving.
6. The siblings that follow first borns are also likely to face the brunt of financial problems
The financial problems may be real or imagined but they do feel the effect. Also at work is the fact that the younger siblings do not want to ape the older ones and do the same things that they have done before.
So maybe it is true after all that the firstborns are more intelligent, the last ones rely on charm and the less said better about the middle ones.
