A Brief History Of Wine
Wine making arrived quite late in the New World, that is America. The first wine was produced in Ohio in the 19th century and later spread to California. But there was a disaster which led to several of the old European vines to be destroyed: the phylloxera epidemic. Wine making was severely affected by this plague. Thus, for decades wine making suffered in some parts of the world.
In present times, wine making is a worldwide industry with huge machines that are harvesting grapes and producing wines. Recently, there is also a trend of making unfiltered wines to preserve more of the grapes’ flavor.
