4 Dangers of Gluten
It is the newest health scare and we have rows and rows of gluten free products in the super market shelves. Many of us are allergic to gluten and don’t know about it as we confuse it with other symptoms. Although wheat is seen as the main source of a gluten rich food, other grains like barley, spelt, rye and kamut have it too. Wheat in itself is not bad, but it has been genetically modified for many years to grow faster, resist drought, produce more and get baked in a certain way that the form it is in now is sometimes dangerous to our health. Also we eat wheat and other grains in various forms. We have the fine processed version in cookies, pastries, cake and other baked foods, so without even giving much thought to it, we end up consuming a lot of wheat and with it a lot of gluten. Here are some dangers of gluten.
1. It is bad when you have celiac disease
Celiac disease is a chronic digestive disorder, where the boy produces an aggressive immune response to gluten which can damage the small intestine.
2. Gastrointestinal disease and nutritional deficiency
As a result of your body producing abnormal levels of immune systems, you suffer from gastrointestinal disease and other nutritional deficiencies. When left untreated this can lead to other diseases such as intestinal cancer, osteoporosis and infertility.
