No matter how successful a diet and weight loss plan turns out, it is extremely difficult for most people to maintain it. Apart from strictly continuing with the suitable diet plan and weight loss regimen, it is important that you stay away from some foods that tend to increase your weight. Here’s a list of foods to stay away from if you do not want to increase your weight.

1. Deep fried foods

Regardless of how tasty deep fried foods seem, they are difficult to digest. The undigested fats and oil tend to accumulate in your body thereby adding to unwanted flab. So, if you want to ensure you don’t put on weight, avoid fried foods.

2. Junk food

A hamburger or a pizza may pamper your palate but it is pretty much sinful on the rest of the body. Junk foods are loaded with calories, fats and sodium which are definitely not good to eat regularly. Trans fat in the fast food increases the bad cholesterol in the blood resulting in heart diseases. Sodium which is necessary to be taken in small quantity daily but it proves fatal if taken more than required resulting in high blood pressure and osteoporosis that become unmanageable if you happen to gain excess weight.

3. Potato chips

Those tasty and crunchy potato chips are monsters in disguise. According to a research, they make you gain weight faster than soda, ice creams and alcohol. Potato chips are made from potatoes (full of carbohydrates), are deep fried (full of oil) and then sprinkled with taste enhancers (full of sodium). As result, they are absolutely unhealthy for those wishing to lose weight.

4. Alcohol

Alcohol is the devil’s drink and it is one of the most prominent reasons for gaining weight. Alcohol releases a hormone named cortisol in our body when consumed. Cortisol breaks down the muscle and retains fat which results in making us fat. Alcohol is full of calories and consumption of alcohol comes with irresponsible eating habits. As a result, addiction to alcohol may lead to excess weight gain.

5. Artificial sweeteners

Sugar is sweet in taste and provides the calories and required energy. Artificial sweeteners, on the other hand, offer sweet taste without the calories. Artificial sweeteners, however, do not provide the same energy as sugar does. As a result, it creates an energy imbalance and hence, we tend to eat more. This results in weight gain.
