Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Keep Away From Junk Food
Fast food joints were my favorite places to hang out with friends when I was a teen. How could I possibly not go? But guess what? Now I’ve come a full circle. I’ll tell you things about junk food that you would never imagine.
1. Ingredients that are not good for you
Do you know why junk food is so tasty and difficult to let go? Because it contains tons of saturated fats, sugar and salt. I am sure you know that this is a direct recipe for obesity. In the whole world, America has the maximum number of obese children. Why? Because we consume too much of junk which eventually causes heart diseases, diabetes, blood pressure and liver malfunctions. I don’t want to spell out all the ugly diseases that you can get through excessive consumption of these ingredients. All I can say is please stay away from them for good. Through your regulated diet, your body will get enough salt, sugar and fats that it needs. You don’t need more!
2. Hazardous additives
Yes you’re right. I am still not done with my list of the harmful ingredients that are added in your favorite potato crispiest and oily crackers. There is a certain additive called MonoSodium Glutamate (MSG) which is a very popular ingredient in junk foods. It gives that extra zingy taste to junk food and makes it last longer. Never heard about this? Not surprising, because most people haven’t. This additive creates an imbalance in the endocrine system to be precise, which leads to obesity. Did you know the trick that MSG uses? It makes you feel hungrier, because of which you will demand more junk food!
3. Apples are not the same as Apple sauce
If you are drinking an apple concentrate every morning and patting yourself on the back for eating healthy food, then let me tell you lady, you are under a spell. Did you know that fresh fruits have plenty of fiber which is lost when they are processed into concentrates or sauces? Yes, all that sudden energy you get with those artificial juices is because tons of sugar is added to it. Now you tell me, what’s the point of having a whole glass of plain sugar in the morning without getting any nutrients?
4. Bad packaging
Fancy packaging doesn’t always mean good packaging. Have you noticed how your burgers will start smelling if you keep them wrapped in plastic for too long? Let me tell you the reason for that. The plastics used in junk food packaging are often of a cheap variety to cut costs, obviously. It may leak bisphenol into food, which disrupts the proper functioning of hormones in your body. I was so shocked when I heard this- bisphenol leads to the formation of male breasts and prostate!
5. Bogus health claims
Do words like zero Trans fats or contains whole wheat or protein plus sound familiar to you? I am sure they do, considering that the telly is bombarded with such ads all day. Do you believe these claims? If you do, then I strictly suggest you stop immediately. These are not scientific claims. They are just made up terms by advertising professionals, to blind you from seeing the truth.
Don’t be mad at me for putting down junk food like this. I know you really like it and even I do. A trip to your junk food hangout once a month is not going to kill you. But if you are going every other day, let me warn you, your bad hair days won’t be too far!
