10 Annoyingly Overused Words

The art of communication is one of the most wonderful creations of human kind. It is this dialect that connects people to one another. However what goes beyond just merely understanding one another, is finding each other worth listening to. Most commonly over used words makes conversations boring and makes a person appear with lack of creativity and good communication skills. Here are 10 such annoyingly overused words that seriously need to retire.

1. Fine

This is the most annoying and commonly used word to end every argument. It is also the most common word used when someone asks you, “How are you?”. ‘Fine’ is the most commonly used word to express your satisfaction with some work. It has become as if there are no words in the English dictionary that this word has to be used in so many places! It just sounds so vacuous.

2. Like

“And it was LIKE the most wonderful thing I LIKE ever saw” and “She went LIKE gung-ho and I was LIKE why are you LIKE over-reacting so much”. Urggh! Give it a break! For some unknown reason today the word “like” is used as a supplement for “um” and it is become even more irritating.

3. F*** Off!

We are not against cursing. If you must, you have every right to curse. We just feel there are several other ways to curse someone than by using the same cliche words over and over again. Even if we say that these two words are overused, it would be an under statement. It is used for the most mundane reasons ever, which makes such powerful words to lose their meaning.

4. What The F***

You hear about a good news, you say, “What the f***”. You hear a bad news, you again say, “What the f***”. Someone surprises you, you say, “What the f***”. Someone irritates you, you again say, “What the f***”! Seriously, what the f***! You could even say, “Oh my God” or “What the hell” or “Holy cow!” and many other such things.

5. You Know

This is yet another annoying filler commonly used by people between their sentences. “You know, she had the most beautiful dress in the room.” Read that again. Was “you know” required in the beginning of the sentence? No it was not! Fillers like this only show nervousness and lack of confidence in what you are saying.
