How To Be Happy In A Relationship?
“It feels like I’m stuck in a rut. All the roads in my relationship with my partner are leading to disappointing dead ends. Are there any secret ways to be happy in a relationship?”, asked Jen, who has been in a relationship with her partner since 3 years.
“There are many ways to be happy in a relationship. Most of them are right in front of your eyes but you fail to see them”, said Meg, a mother of two who is married to her high school sweetheart, Jason.
We follow the conversation between the two and pick out the points that matter. Here are 10 best ways to be happy in a relationship.
“Don’t compare your relationship with other relationships”, says Meg. “What may seem like a happy relationship from outside may be abusive behind closed doors. So stop comparing your bond with your partner to the rest of the world.”
“Are you and your partner always worrying about money, Jen?”, Meg probed further. “Yes. Money does seem to creep into our conversations regularly”, replied Jen. “From the many years I’ve spent with Jason, we’ve learnt that money is not the end all and be all of everything. Discuss your finances less often”, she advised.
Another great way to be happy in a relationship is to learn to let go. We understood when Meg said “We all have imperfections. Your partner is human too. Forgive mistakes that don’t matter too much.” Don’t you agree too?
Jen said that she constantly thought of how her relationship would be after 5 years. “One of the best ways to be happy in a relationship is to live in the present. It’s good to plan your future, but don’t keep worrying constantly about where you and your partner will be after 5 or 10 years. Enjoy the time you spend with your partner right now”, replied Meg. We think that’s a brilliant attitude to have.
