9 Tips To Remember Names
6. Find a striking characteristic
This is again related to associating something unique about the person to his name. For example, if Rita has worn a red top, you can remember her name as ‘Red Rita’. If she has brown hair, you could say ‘Brown-haired Rita’.
7. Click an image
If you have a digital camera, click the person’s photo. Though, a phone will also work fine. You can take the person’s individual picture or have it taken with yourself. Later, you can always name it on your PC/phone, where you transfer it. But the main point of taking an image is to make yourself recognize him/her and remember his/her name.
8. Jot it down
Another efficient way of remembering names, is to note them down immediately. You can note it in your phone or go home and write it on a notepad or scrapbook. You can always use it for future reference. But be sure to write some details about the person whose name you’re writing, so that you remember where you met him/her.
9. Ask again
There’s no harm in asking the name of the person again. You might feel embarrassed at first, but if you know the right way to ask, there’s no problem ahead. Just drop the question something like this at the end of your conversation, ‘It was really nice to know you, but I’m sorry I missed your name.’
