8 Ways to Relieve Menstrual Cramps
Women across the world are plagued with menstrual cramps with varying intensities. Some women are lucky enough to experience very less discomfort during periods but others may not be so fortunate. Here are some tips to relieve menstrual cramps and have a healthy period without letting your life come to a standstill.
1. Drink Chamomile tea
Many herbal teas are known to have some medicinal functions or benefits for the body. Chamomile tea in particular is said to be loaded with anti inflammatory elements which act like natural painkillers. Experts recommend Chamomile tea prepared by brewing natural chamomile flowers as a method to relieve menstrual cramps.
2. Do floor exercises
Going to the gym may not sound like a very comforting idea while you are in your periods, but doing some floor exercise may help in easing menstrual pain. Try some generic floor exercises such as lying flat on your back and stretching your legs to 45 degrees off the ground level. You call also twist your legs from the abdomen on both sides while you are lying flat on your back.
3. Use a heated water bag to ease pain
Women who experience mild, temporary or fluctuating menstrual cramps may want to consider using heating pads or hot water bags. Once the pad is prepped, lie flat on your chest and put it on your lower abdomen or on the exact spot where you experience acute pain. If you find the heating pad cumbersome, you may want to soak yourself in a hot water tub for an hour.
4. Take mild anti inflammatory pills after getting a doctor’s prescription
There are many OTC pills and other anti inflammatory tablets available in the market. Before popping any pills, consult your GP and make sure you get a medical approval. These pills are known to provide instant relief from menstrual cramps because of which they can lower your ability to tolerate pain.
