8 Ways to Fall in Love With Yourself
5. Forget the bad memories of your past
To start loving yourself, you will first need to forget the bad memories of your past. Whether it is a breakup, betrayal or cheating, you must learn to stop re-visiting these negative memories. You can never be happy and feel good about yourself if you constantly keep thinking about the sad events and disappointments that have happened earlier in your life.
6. Don’t try to change yourself
Acceptance of your own self is the first step of loving yourself truly without any conditions. Whether you are an introvert, extrovert, geek or an outgoing personality, accept who you are and understand that this is the way you are wired from within. Trying to fight a battle with yourself to change your personality, habits and choices will not have any positive effects on your mental well being. Rather, accept who you are and learn to love yourself.
7. Appreciate your skills
Are you a good programmer? Are you a good writer? Are you good at playing soccer? Are you good at mathematics? Ask yourself many such questions and identify your skill set. Appreciate your expertise in a certain area and be proud of yourself. This will increase your self-worth and will uplift your image in your own eyes.
8. Do things that you are passionate about
Take a notepad and make a quick list of the things that you are passionate about. How many of these things are you actually doing? If you find that you don’t have the time to do any of these things just because you don’t get time from work, you need to re-assess your priorities. Make a schedule where you get at least an hour during the day to do things so that you feel happy about being able to pursue your passion.
