8 Ways to Add More Spinach to Your Diet

Remember the days when your mom used to convince you to eat green veggies, especially spinach, by citing Popeye as an example? He was like a brand ambassador for ‘spinach’ world over. Today you may have to face the same difficult task, but there is no Popeye to lure your kids. Not just kids, even you may sometimes be reluctant to eat this green veggie, though you may be well aware that it’s loaded with vitamins, minerals, iron, fiber, antioxidants and folic acid. Here are some fun ways to add more spinach to your daily diet. This will leave you craving for some more of this veggie.

1. Prepare a soup

This is the best way to consume maximum spinach in a single meal. Just blanch a whole bunch of spinach and make a puree. Sauté some garlic cloves and onion paste in butter, then add puree and water. Let it boil for a couple of minutes, add little fresh cream and it’s ready. If you want to make it more interesting, then add some more veggies, chicken cubes and savor it with assorted breads.

2. Prepare spinach fritters as side dish

Who doesn’t like fritters? This trick works on both young and adults. Just take some medium spinach leaves, dip them in a mix of flour, salt and paprika. You can use either plain flour or gram flour. Then deep fry them. This crunchy preparation can be enjoyed as a tea time snack or a side dish with the meal.

3. Prepare spinach dip for entrees

If you have very little frozen spinach left, then just chop it finely and mix it with mayonnaise and hung curd. This will result in an amazing dip, which you would want to have with anything and everything. It can also be used as a dip for fondue.

4. Include spinach in your pasta or lasagna

If you are making fresh pasta at home, then add some spinach puree while making the dough. If you are using packaged penne, fusilli or spaghetti, then add the puree to the sauce. For lasagna fans, just sprinkle some frozen baby spinach on top of every sheet. This will make your pasta tasty and much healthier.
