5. Greenland

In Greenland, the traditional Christmas dinner does not have turkey or pudding. Rather, they serve a dish called as Mattak, which is a whale skin with blubber. This dish is traditionally served at most natives in Greenland. It is something to do with their good luck and prosperity during Christmas time, so that is really different.

6. Ireland

Every kid believes that Santa does exist. So, do people of Ireland. It is a belief that people of Ireland leave mince pies and Guinness bottle in front of their doors for Santa. They believe that this ritual traditionally brings good luck at their place. This also serves as a snack for Santa during the Christmas Eve.

7. Russia

In Russia, Christmas is not celebrated on the 25th DEC. Though; the date holds relevance for people of Russia. But, still they celebrate Christmas on 7th of January. It was written in the old Julian calendar of Russia, where people used to fast for 39 days. After which, they used to break their fast and celebrate the occasion of Christmas. This still holds significance for many people in Russia.

8. Germany

There was an ancient belief about witches on the Christmas Eve. It was believed that on Christmas evil witches would ride on the broom outside the home. Till date, many people hide brooms and cleaning things on the eve of Christmas to wade off the evil spirit on Christmas. This tradition is really scary.
