8 Tips to Teach Your Children Obedience
5. Be consistent with rules and consequences
Consistency is very important for achieving the goal. As a parent, you maintaining consistency can make children serious about the rules. In absence of consistency they may take all the rules lightly and ultimately, they won’t become obedient children. Don’t get emotional at the time of giving punishment. Be firm and consistent with your children because this will make them better individuals.
6. Inspire your children by following the same rules
Parents are first role models for their children. So, you must set a good example of a disciplined person. You must follow the same rules along with your children. This will motivate them for performing better.
7. Appreciate them for their obedient behavior
Appreciation is as important as punishments and discipline. If you appreciate your kids on showing obedient behavior, the kids will feel motivated. You can appreciate and reward your kids with an ice-cream, a pizza or a warm hug.
8. Do not punish children for their mistakes
There is a need to understand the difference between mistake and disobedience. Punishments are meant for disobedience and not for mistakes. For instance, you can punish your child when he/she doesn’t eat lunch at school but you can’t punish if he/she drops and breaks the plate while eating. In this case, you can politely explain the child how he can hold the plate and eat in a better way.
