8 Tips to Deal with Possessive Parents
5. Financial cut off
If you are old enough, try to be financially independent. This way they will not be able to control your money matters. Being financially independent will also make them realize that you are a grown-up and can make your own decisions.
6. Set boundaries
If you do not want their interference in some aspects of your life, let them know. Make some boundaries and convey to them with compassion that there are parts of your life that you want to deal with on your own.
7. Seek their advice from time to time
Even after you start living on your own, seek their suggestions from time to time. Let them know that you still need them. This will make them feel happy.
8. Have faith in your abilities
Have faith in your abilities and your choices. If you discuss things with them while you are in the process of decision making, things might turn sore. Talk to them after you have taken a decision. If their inputs seem logical and correct, you can always change your decision and do the right thing.
