8 Tips on Mountain Holidays
5. Carry light weight luggage
Always travel with light weight luggage. Maps should be kept handy so that these could be referred to, when needed. Don’t hold the map in your hand all the time. Never completely rely on what you grasp.
6. Eye Protection
Do not go without anti-fog eyewear. Proper eye protection from sun and snow is very important. Wind blows snow directly into the eyes and could be very uncomfortable. Sunglasses often just don’t do the job.
7. Inform relevant people
Always Inform relevant people of your intention to climb or hike; the route you will take and approximate time you expect to return, in case you need to be rescued. Those surrounding you should be aware of where you’re going and by when you would return so they can ring the bell if you don’t return.
8. Keep a track weather conditions
Keep in mind that weather conditions can change suddenly in the mountains, so closely follow weather forecasts. Do not venture out even if there is hint of snow fall or storm.
Wherever you book holidays, make sure you stay safe in the mountains. Travel smart!
