8 Steps to Prevent Heart Disease
5. Have Omega-3 supplements and choose your food items in whole grain or kernel form. You need the fiber, and white rice pasta and sugar tend to pack in only starch. Include salmon and tuna in your diet as it is packed with omega 3 which slows down the growth of plaque that can clog up the arteries.
6. Take frequent cholesterol tests. Watch your weight. Keep a Body Mass Index of 23 or lower. Do not pick over-the-counter food items randomly. Read the labels carefully. Check the calories, sodium and fats level marked on the labels. Your body does not need any food item with more than 2 grams of fat. If you cannot avoid trans fat in your food item check if it contains no more than 1 gram.
7. Iron out the risk of diabetes. If you are diabetic then regulate your blood pressure and check your blood sugar level regularly. Food items with high sugar content and starch are your enemies and pose a greater risk of heart diseases.
8. Meditate daily. If meditation is not your thing soak in warm water with bath salts, listen to soothing music and leave stress at bay. Do not zip up your emotions. Let them out. Cry, laugh, be vulnerable, get angry and have healthy relationships with your friends, co-workers and family.
