The date is set. November 24 it is. That’s the day to thank God for all that he has bestowed upon us. Being one of the most celebrated holidays in the US, there’s a lot that goes into preparing the final Thanksgiving dinner. It’s not just a dinner after all, it’s a celebration with friends, family and all our near and dear ones. So we thought of giving you something different to try this year at Thanksgiving. 1. Turkey
Of course, the most popular and everyone’s favorite Thanksgiving dish – Turkey! There are a whole lot of ways in which you can play up and cook the turkey. There’s the fried, smoked, roasted and deep-fried one. But if you’re in the mood to experiment, why not go for something a little unique? Try and make a turduken; that is a duck inside a chicken inside a turkey. Some other ways to use your bird is to use parts of it like the breast to make a herb turkey breast, brown-sugar rubbed turkey breast or the crock-pot turkey breast. Sounds tempting, doesn’t it?
2. Potatoes
Mashed potatoes, anyone? Yes, the mashed potatoes are another favorite and traditional side dish for Thanksgiving. The recipe is simple enough – mashed sweet potatoes, pineapple and melted crusty marshmallows as the topping. Again, don your creative chef’s hat and get going with cooking a variety of other dishes with potatoes. You could try the garlic flavored mashed potatoes or even the cream cheese potato soup.
3. Casserole
How can you forget Casserole when giving a Thanksgiving dinner? So cook it up differently this year by having a sweet potato and apple casserole, cheesy potato casserole, green bean and fried onion casserole, spinach casserole or a mushroom casserole. So what casserole are you going to prepare?
4. Pie
The moment you think of pie, there’s just one dish that comes to your mind, right? The tried and tested pumpkin pie. But this year, make it differently so that your family and guests just love what you’ve cooked. If you are a formal pumpkin fan, then you can make the pie using cream cheese and pumpkin or with honey. Other varieties that you can try out is the chocolate cream pie, crusted apple pie, caramel apple pie or coconut cream pie.
5. Cranberry
Is it going to be cranberry sauce, cranberry jam or cranberry punch this year? Apart, from using cranberry the traditional way, you can even use it for a dressing, dessert or a salad. Even better, why not make a cranberry cheesecake?

Ever heard of a wild-rice stuffing with grapes and hazelnuts or a parsley and pork stuffing? No? Let us enlighten you that these are some of the new stuffings that you could make and give your special Thanksgiving dinner a twist. If you stick to the traditional, then make the fried cornbread stuffing or the classic bread turkey stuffing.
7. Artichokes
The Thanksgiving dinner can never be complete without an artichoke dip. These are some ways in which you can give it a healthy twist. You can make the spinach artichoke dip, crab artichoke dip or even use it as an appetizer with some garlic and cheese.
8. Dessert
No dinner can be complete without a sweet touch at the end. That’s right, it’s a dessert that you need to make your Thanksgiving dinner one of the amazing dinners of all time.
