When you’re planning a picnic or a family dinner, assign who’s going to bring what to the get-together. Make a list and assign something to each person, including the moocher to bring along. This way the moocher will know that his/her contribution will be noticed by everyone and he/she is bound to contribute.

Especially when the moocher is getting a good pay-check, but the mooching just doesn’t stop, you could ask privately whether there’s any financial crunch the moocher is facing as it seems to you that he/she is often short of cash.
7. Avoid the moocher
If everything else fails, then you can always avoid the moocher. Slowly, the message will get through so that the next time you meet, the moocher will be ready to pay his/her share. If not, you may consider bidding farewell to such a friendship.
