This small town located in Delta County in Texas got its strange name from the famous network radio comedy program called Lum and Abner. Jot Em Down was a fictitious store in the widely popular radio show.

Boring is located in Clackamas County, nearly twenty miles southeast from Portland, Oregon. The town has been named after William Boring, one of its earliest residents and a Union veteran who served in the Illinois Infantry.
